We are working with a client who seeks a Director of Online Marketing. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a multi-billion dollar specialty retailer. The parent company operates more than 3,000 stores throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

The client offers special occasion and casual fashion apparel and accessories at attractive prices, operating 800+ stores in 40+ states. The company has an exciting opportunity to develop its growing ecommerce business. As Director of Online Marketing, you will be responsible for the strategic and tactical levels of digital marketing, while jointly owning the vision for ecommerce.
This client targets women aged 35-55 with household incomes of $85,000/up. It stores are usually located in strip shopping centers in high density markets and surrounding suburban areas. The brand is a top 10 player in its peer group in terms of comparative sales growth. According to the company’s CEO, Q3 2012 operating income was $31 million or 10.8% of sales, compared to $34 million in Q3 2011 (which was 12% of sales). For the balance of 2012, the client will continue to to focus on mailings to its core customer list, targeted promotions, and compelling in-store events. They are also enhancing their focus on loyalty programs.

Responsibilities:
- Assess business development and digital marketing opportunities to proffer excellent analysis / recommendations, and driving team execution.
- Manage 3rd party digital marketing agency. Accountable for goal setting and management of paid search, organic search, online display, mobile, email and affiliates.
- Create growth strategies for each of our online channels, identify new opportunities, and optimize our overall media mix.
- Partner with C.R.M. team on market research and analysis of customers, competition, market / industry trends.
- Make use of web analytics to drive insights and proffer recommendations to reach consumers in new and unique ways and to increase ROI.
- Perform deep analysis of channel conversion, selling and Return on Investment to make recommendations and drive strategies for improvement.
- Responsible for digital marketing budget, spend, and related ROI.
- Responsible for “brand right” overall look and feel of the website. Manages team of digital designers as well as content workflow.
- Creates a motivating environment that ensures the ongoing training and development of digital team.
- Partners with ecommerce teams, corporate marketing, social media and legal to effectively execute campaigns.
- Actively partners and collaborates with Marketing team to ensure the company’s concepts and branding effectively translate to the website.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ hands- on experience with ecommerce marketing, with expertise acquiring customers through digital channels
- Deep understanding of the digital environment and evolving tools and platforms used to improve online presence. Able to translate trends into brand right business opportunities.
- Prior experience includes leading and developing a team of ecommerce professionals as well as working with cross-functional teams
- Expertise in analytics, Omniture preferred.
- Strong relationship builder both within the organization and with external partners.
- Must be able to articulate a vision and develop and deliver supporting marketing plans.
- Experience managing a digital marketing budget and portfolio
- Strong leadership, analytical, strategic thinking and problem solving skills
- Customer focused with a strong awareness of the client’s brand and target customer.
- Strong relationship builder both within the organization and with external partners.
