We are working with FKQ Advertising in their search for a Senior Interactive Art Director based in Clearwater, Florida.

About the role: The Senior Interactive Art Director must be ready and eager to step in and help manage within a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment. He/she will work closely with FKQ’s Creative Directors, Project Managers, Engineers and Copywriters on global, national, regional and local brands. Beyond process management, a successful candidate will feel comfortable presenting thinking and ideas to both the agency team and the client.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to …

  • Process/Team Management/Leadership
  • Conceptual Design
  • Graphic Design
  • Produce comps and finished solutions, developing concepts, typography, visuals, navigational symbols and icons for a wide variety of interactive projects.
  • Multimedia designs, code basic HTML for web sites
  • Optimize photos, logos, banners and other graphical elements for the Web.
  • Presentation of thinking and finished work
  • Traditional creative work as available.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 5+ years of interactive experience in the field or in a related area
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, self-management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency required in CSS/HTML, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Air and Flex are a plus.

HARRY’S COMMENTS: In his classic book, Ogilvy on Advertising, David Ogilvy relates a story about an Art Director working on a commercial who became upset about the aesthetics – or rather lack thereof – of a particular table being used on the set. Although the client reassured him that the table was covered by a cloth, thus rendering it invisible to consumers, the art director responded “But I would know what’s under the cloth, and it just wouldn’t be right.” As legend has it, he insisted on finding a new table, which ended up costing the client an extra $5,000 in production costs.

Such are the slings and arrows of being O.C.D.

Unlike the hapless Art Director above, FKQ is looking for a partner in the interactive creative design process with a team approach to work, someone who is focused on the client’s top and bottom lines, and is comfortable managing up, down and across. The ideal candidate will be passionate about what he does, hungry and maybe a little bit uncomfortable in his current position, as well as eager to learn and grow. If you have a “been there, done that” approach to your work, then this is not the position for you.

It’s all about keeping it real.
